Hawaiian Koa Wood Frames
Hawaiian Koa wood is considered to be one of the most precious and rare of tropical hardwoods. Native to the Hawaiian Islands it is found throughout the state but grown mostly on Maui and The Big Island of Hawaii. The grain is unique in that it varies from a beautiful golden reddish brown to dark brown with streaks of darker browns and black. Some of the most beautiful and sought after Hawaiian Koa features a curly, wave-like grain giving it the appearance of depth. Our finished Hawaiian Koa frames are hand-oiled to bring out its natural lustrous beauty with gorgeous hues of red, gold and brown. Our frames arrive complete with hanging hardware.
Matting
Using a mat will most often enhance the appearance of your framed poster or print. We feature a paper mat (off-white/cream color) and a very vintage Hawaiian lauhala mat.
Many posters and prints can be framed without using matting and still produce beautiful finished products. This is true for posters printed with white colored borders or text. The colored border and text gives the appearance of matting.
Glass
We use acrylic plexi glass because it is durable, lightweight, resistant to breakage, sunlight and weathering. It provides superb optical clarity and complete transparency equal to the best optical glass.
